Hardwood Looks, Composite Performance, and a Railing Made From Scratch
The Erie homeowner had a clear ask: the warmth of stained hardwood without ever having to pick up a sanding block again. Western Sky Designs answered with Fiberon’s Horizon line in Tudor Brown, paired with a railing welded from scratch on-site.
A Color That Reads Like Real Wood
Tudor Brown isn’t a flat finish. It’s multi-chromatic, with subtle red and amber streaking and a hardwood grain that varies board to board, the same kind of depth you’d expect from ipe or mahogany.
Under the cap:
- PermaTech capping on all four sides
- Stain and UV-fade resistance for the long haul
- 25-year warranty, a lifespan that real wood rarely sees
- No splintering, sealing, or seasonal refinishing
A Railing Built, Not Bought
Most railings arrive on a truck as pre-assembled panels. Not here.
Western Sky Designs designed and welded the railing on-site, shaping it to the deck rather than the other way around:
- Each section is sized to its run, with no awkward stock gaps
- Post spacing matched to the framing below
- Metalwork finished to play off the warm tones of the decking
The result is a perimeter that looks like it was always meant to be there.
Built for the Front Range
Erie’s foothills climate doesn’t go easy on outdoor builds. Intense UV, hailstorms, and dry winters wear down lesser decks fast. Tudor Brown and the welded railing handle all of it without flinching.
Smaller in footprint than some of our larger projects, but the depth of work puts it a class above standard composite.
